20 Years Ago Today: Savage Garden's "Truly Madly Deeply" Topped The Music Charts - #TBT

January 18, 2018

Twenty years ago this week, the Australian pop duo Savage Garden was asking to be "your dream, your wish, your fantasy."

Yes, it was January 1998 when Savage Garden topped the Billboard Hot 100 with their song "Truly Madly Deeply."

The track, which was the third single from their self-titled debut album, spent a record breaking 123 weeks on the Adult Contemporary Billboard chart. The single's run of incredible success didn't end there. It actually stayed on Billboard's AC Recurrent chart until 2006.

In the meantime, we are pretty sure that if you go to your local reception hall, you'll hear this song at some point this weekend. It's truly become a wedding staple.

Savage Garden's follow-up hit in 1999, titled "I Knew I Loved You," also had a TON of success.

The duo disbanded in 2001. Darren Hayes has continued as a solo artist since then.
