Today’s Great Mate Debate is finally not going to ruin a marriage! Maybe just a friendship, a community, and some holiday spirit… Allison and Laura are neighbors that liked to help each other out until Allison’s husband got hurt while helping Laura. Laura’s husband is away a lot, so Allison’s husband went and helped her put up Christmas lights. He fell off a ladder and broke his leg. Laura initially said she would totally help out with medical bills and is now backing out of it. Allison says that Laura should still help no matter what her financial status is…
Slacker says that he has a little bit of knowledge on the home owners insurance stuff and knows that Laura’s HOI will pay for it. But it will also “ding” her and her premium will go up. He also wonders why she should have to pay if he offered to help her in the first place… Steve is turning it in to a math equation that the insurance companies will have to work out later…
Whose side are you on?
I think they should be adults and neighborly with one another and meet in the middle. It was very nice of the husband to help Laura out but she is not to blame for him falling. Allison is good to be worried about her husband but might be making this a bigger deal than it is. I think Laura should help pay some of the medical bills but not be responsible for all of them. After all, her husband is gone a lot, she shouldn’t want to burn her bridges.
